What is involved in an initial consultation?
At the initial consultation a full naturopathic assessment is undertaken. This is a comprehensive process which explores all possible physical, mental and emotional factors which may be adversely affecting your current state of health. In order to establish a baseline measurement, investigations include examining issues related to hormonal balance, blood sugar control, gastrointestinal, immune, liver, neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular function. Naturopathic assessments methods are used, in conjunction with conventional pathology testing,in order to confirm any medical anomalies. Evaluation of weight and nutritional status, nutritional deficiencies , food sensitivities, food-drug or herb-drug interactions are also examined. The importance of identifying your body’s particular needs, and nurturing it accordingly can quickly improve both your physical and mental health .

What is involved in naturopathic treatment?
Naturopathic treatment is gentle, effective and is always customised to your specific requirements. Jo has a strong preference for recommending ‘evidence-based’ complementary medicines, combined with herbal medicines which have a long and solid history of traditional use. Treatment regimes vary from individual to individual, however they may include one or a combination of the following;- a customised herbal extract , an aromatherapy blend, a herbal tea blend, a flower essence, and always a nutritional or lifestyle regime.

Can I be treated if I am taking medication?
Yes! With continuously updated ‘Drug/Herb/Nutrient Interaction Guidelines’, now available to most health professionals, common interactions can be avoided. Jo prefers to liase with your regular treating doctor in situations where you may be taking multiple pharmaceutical medications.
